Rights Executive (Full-Time)
We are looking for an enthusiastic Rights Executive to join our London team. This role has a salary range of £22,00–£24,500 per annum, dependent on experience.
Watkins Media consists of 4 imprints: Watkins (a leading publisher of personal development and mind, body, spirit books); Nourish Books (focusing on wellbeing and healthy cookery); Angry Robot Books (an award-winning publisher of science fiction and fantasy books); and Repeater (specialising in radical politics, fiction and philosophy).
You will be responsible for prospecting and selling foreign rights and co-editions on assigned territories directly or through co-agents to reach targets. You will be responsible for managing your relationships with existing customers and finding new ones. You will work closely with the Rights Manager, organising and attending book fairs and preparing rights guides and newsletters.
You will work with the editorial team and develop new opportunities for rights sales across the list. You will liaise with the production department to fulfil co-edition orders and will be expected to go on 3-4 foreign trips per year.
You should have previous experience of co-editions, negotiation and sales of licenses, (including drafting contracts, invoicing and following-up on payments) and the ability to work independently. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to prioritise, and work well under pressure. Experience with Biblio, Bradbury Philips, That’s Rights, Excel, InDesign, and SAGE would also be an advantage. A willingness to learn and to take instruction well, along with enthusiasm and a sunny disposition will also be appreciated.
If you would like to apply, please send your CV along with a covering letter detailing your suitability for the role to Olivia Richardson at email@example.com.
Please state your current salary, along with your notice period in your email. The deadline is 20th December 2019.
