Complimenting the How Black was My Valley Art Exhibition and book launch held at MOMA, Brad Evans & Chantal Meza will lead an open workshop that is free to the public, to explore the key themes in the book and the wider social implications.
The workshop will begin with a 20 minute tour of the works, where the hosts will talk through both the artistic and political meaning of their production, before leading into an open group discussion. Areas to be discussed might include: – how are we to reimagine (post)industrial Wales? What impact has the legacy of coal had upon the way Wales is represented? How can we bring art into better conversation with politics and society? And can art also be a leading force in how we reimagine what the Nation might mean in the 21st Century?
