On 6th May we will be welcoming Tom Whyman into the bookshop to discuss his new (and much needed!) abridgement of Marx & Engels’ *The German Ideology*. Originally existing as a bloated 700-page manuscript, *The German Ideology* was intended to be a severing critique of the ‘mainstream’ Hegelian tendencies of 19th Century Germany. For too long, however, the book has remained inaccessible to those without the time and resources of an academic. Thankfully for us, Tom‘s new edition renders it a rich and digestible piece of philosophy.
Tom Whyman is a freelance writer (regularly published in the New York Times and The Guardian) and part-time philosophy lecturer at the University of Sussex. He recently published *Infinitely Full of Hope: Fatherhood and the Future in an Age of Crisis and Disaster*, a philosophical memoir musing on the trials and joys of parenthood.
We do hope you can join us to hear more from Tom on this exciting new philosophical endeavour.
